' Your blood count is still low, you're going to need another transfusion' said Dr P. That's OK but with Jane's veins, the search for an adequate vain is usually impossible and that's exactly what happened at the hospice the other day. One bag went in very slowly then the vein collapsed and that was that.
We went back to see Dr P on Thursday and it was agreed that we should explore the possibility of a Hickman Line which would mean no more needles. Anything is better than being stabbed to death in the hand for no result. Also, due to Jane's continual pain in her legs and the MST not appearing to be working, a change of pain killer was prescribed. She started it on Friday so standby for an update on that one.
All things considered, Jane is not doing too badly. She still finds it difficult to walk any distance and gets easily frustrated and emotional when things don't go so well. She is insisting on cooking a chicken dinner tomorrow (mother's day) as the whole family are in situ (James is back from a 3 week holiday in Korea before he returns to base).
Should I dare sneak out for a quick game of golf whilst she's cooking ?
It would be a brave move indeed...... lol

oh my heavens it's good to read your post. sorry about jane's vein trouble and her pain - i hope the new meds do the trick. i always knew she was one amazing lady, but wanting to cook for the family on mother's day - now that's a trooper! it must give her much pleasure, which is wonderful. and yes martin, i think you very much deserve a few holes of golf, so get out of her hair for a bit wouldya! hugs to you both, i think of you often.
So glad to read your update Martin, bless Jane over and over she is an awesome person and Mom, know you will have a great time at dinner, and I will be thinking of you all round that table!!Continue to hold Jane in thought and prayer
Thank you Martin for the update. I look in every morning just to see if there is one.
What a wonderful woman our Jane is...cooking Sunday dinner whatever next !!! I hope that the hickman does get put in as it will make things so much easier..
Take care yourself...
God Bless,
Love Sybil xx
Well done to Jane on planning to cook the dinner. Golf sounds like a badd idea to me!
Thank you for the update, Martin, all in all, things can't be too bad if Jane insists on cooking dinner! Seriously, although I'm aware of the risks involved with a Hickman, it is better than the continual battle to find a vein. I know someone who had to endure that, and in the end also went for a Hickman. Keep us posted.
Hello Jane and all, so good to hear you're back in the kitchen Jane, I managed to cook a 3 bird roast today (aldi's) but lost my energy so John had to serve it up so it was chunks not slices, but very good just the same. Don't despair that you can't walk too far yet bet you go further than me and I haven't been through half the pain or ops you have so you're doing really well. Little by little and as soon as the hickman line is in you'll be so much better. xxx
You go for your game of golf and let Jane have a normal day making lunch for you all. Normality is what you crave when things aren't going well. Let her get on with it. (smile)
She is so brave!
It sounds like the Hickman line is a sensible suggestion.
God bless you both.
