And Finally

Losing someone as special as Jane has left a massive impact on all our lives. Jane posted on an earlier entry that she didn't think I was prepared for her death. That was a massive understatement. It hit me between the eyes like an inter city express. The sense of loss and loneliness is all consuming and nothing anyone says helps to appease it. Last thing at night and first thing in the morning are the very worst times as grief takes a grip of every thought.....

I know what Jane will be saying right now, " For goodness sake Martin, my journey is over, if you want to go posting start your own blog !" Ok Ok I might just do that...

Before I go I would like to thank a few people.

I would like to thank all her blog family. She took so much pride in this blog and loved to read your kind comments. It meant everything to her to hear how it has helped so many people in similar situations.
I would like to thank Team Jane with a special mention for her GP, Dr Arora who always told her that she was not a patient but part of his family and to Dr Pofiri who fought tirelessly for the cancer drugs for her and that extended her life for just over three wonderful years.
I would like to thank St Mary's Hospice and the wonderful nurses for the care and consideration they gave to Jane that made her consider it her second home and for the care, help and support they gave to both of us in those final terrible hours.

Jane's funeral will be held on Friday 11th June 2010. If anyone would like details please feel free to email on ....ThompsonB31@aol.com

That leaves just me to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and thankyou for reading about and sharing in Jane's wonderful journey.
I will leave you with a quote from Edward,
'Its not the years in your life that count, its your life in those years."

Kindest Regards

Martin

I fully understand your feelings and echo Tinkerbell's comments. I am never any good at putting in to words what I want to but Jane's courage and determination gave me hope and inspiration in my own fight with cancer, she was a bright star in a dark time for me.

You are all in my thoughts and I can still feel Jane willing us all on in our battle, she will never be forgotten, may June 11th give you time to reflect on all the good she has achieved and know her fight will go on through us all in this battle against cancer. We owe her a great debt of gratitude for the strength she showed and gave us through just being Jane. xxx

Hi Martin,
Hope you have love and support around you.

Nothing can compensate for the loss of your darling nothing can.

Hope you can find some relief from your great pain.

Perhaps in time you will be able to enjoy the moment again in the knowledge that is what your darling Jane would want for you

Thinking of you.

I want to thank you for sharing your Jane with us for these few short years. As I continue my own RCC journey, I will always remember her strength, her courage, and I will do my best to make her proud! But most of all, I will remember her wonderful sense of humour, such an essential and important part of this journey. Although I cannot be with you on June 11, I will be there in spirit. My very best wishes to you Martin and the family as you enter this new chapter of your lives. Remember Jane with much love, but find your way to getting great pleasure and enjoyment out of each day of the rest of YOUR life - that is what Jane would insist upon! Hugs, as always, from across the pond.

Martin,
We'll be with you in spirit if not in person on Friday as you lay Jane's body to rest. Her journey is now complete, but you will carry on. If you start a new blog, let us know. For now, grieve your loss and take your time.

Dear Martin,
I will be thinking of you and your family on the 11th as you lay Jane's body to rest. Her beautiful spirit will go on inside many of us too. May you remember all the good times more often than those last days of hers here on earth.
God bless you all.

A friend sent me this poem when I lost my Dad 11 years ago now. I remember that I couldn´t read past the first 6 lines, it was too painful. Now I often read it and and always smile when I think of him. Here goes it´s long and I´m not very fast writing either.
A LETTER FROM HEAVEN.
To my dearest family, some thing I´d like to say, but first of all to let you know I arrived o.k.
I am writing this from heaven where I dwell with God above, where there´s no pain, tears or sadness, there is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I´m out of sight, remember that I´m with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when life on Earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and said "I welcome you"
It´s good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone,as for your dearest family, they´ll be here later on.
Then God gave me a list of things he wanted me to do , and foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you.
And I will be beside you every day, week and year and when you´re sad I´m standing there to wipe away the tear.
When you think of my life on Earth , and all those living years, because you´re only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
Do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain, but I´m here waiting to see you smile again.
It was always my philosophy and I´d like it for you too, that as you give into the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who has sorrow or pain, then you can say to God at night my life was not in vain.
And now I am contented that my life was worthwhile, knowing that as I passed along I made someone smile.
When you are walking down the street and you´ve got me on your mind, I´m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when you feel gentle breeze or wind upon your face, that´s me giving you a gentle hug or just a soft embrace.
And when it´s time for you to go from that body to be free, remember you´re not going, you are coming here to me.
And I will always love you from that land up above- will be in touch again soon.
PS. God sends his love.

Love to you and your family Denise.
