Journeys End

Jane passed away this afternoon.

She looked so peaceful after months of so much pain. I just wanted to take her home and care for her all over again. People say that I was so good to care for her the way I did but I loved her so much it was an absolute pleasure. I would do the same again tomorrow if I had the chance, now all I have left are memories. There is a huge void left which I am not going to be able to fill. She was my life, in sickness and in health and I will miss her with all my heart.

Rest in peace Jane.

Rest in peace, Jane. Your pain and suffering is over, all that remains is the memory of your valiant battle with that horrible disease. You knew how it would end, yet battled on to the last moment. Jane, you are a luminous example to all who are fighting cancer, or who care for those that care for cancer sufferers. And Martin, you rank alongside Jane for the same reason and at the same level. In sickness and in health, as you so rightly state.

Jane, you won't be forgotten.
Martin, well done.

Yours,

adb said it eloquently.
i know she's at her new home, with angels all around her, & is happy, free of all pain & suffering. altho, you'll grieve for her, i know how strong you are martin, you've shown us all that. jane & you, made the perfect match! express your grief now. then be comforted in knowing, jane will never really leave you, those memories of her, & the love you shared, will be there always.
God bless.

you do not know me.. i have no connection to you other than i have been following this blog for a few months... after having lost my father to RCC in January i sought out comfort in knowing that there were still others out there.. fighting the good fight...
today i find myself reading this entry and reminiscing over others.. and crying.. for you.. and for a strong woman i never had the pleasure of meeting...
but what a beautiful testament to her.. and to you.. and to the fight.. that this blog has been able to touch people in unbelievable ways... it proves..what an amazing woman she was.. what fight.. what want for life... what a wonderment she will always be..

Sorry seems such an insignificant word to use for the loss of a great fighter whose memory will last for ever. Jane was such an inspiration to me in my own fight against cancer I really am at a loss for words to say more.

heartbroken - that's how I feel - Jane was such an awesome inspiration for me in the past 20 months since my own RCC diagnosis - she truly gave me such strength & optimism and helped me understand how to live the moment fully. i feel so honoured to have known her from afar. And Martin, I feel so crushed for you and the children - you all must know what an amazing woman Jane was, how much she helped so many of us world wide - be very very proud of your wife/Mum - she was an awesome person and was well loved by many who never had the pleasure of meeting her face-to-face.
I send you all hugs from across the pond, as I always did to Jane.

Dear Martin, I'm so sorry. I've had the pleasure of chatting to Jane online for a number of years and she was a very bright and funny woman who always made my day. Jane's blog tells a similar story to one I'm already sadly familiar with, having shared this journey with a close relative who was the same age as Jane when she lost her life to cancer a few years ago. Jane has helped me more than she could know. Thank you both. Heartfelt condolences to you and your children. XXX

Jane has been an inspiration to me ever since my diagnosis back in October 2007. When I first found her blog back then, I believe she was writing about buying pajamas and her upcoming IL-2 treatment.

I am so honored to have called Jane friend. We never met in person or even talked on the phone. I only knew Jane through her blog and some encouraging emails she sent me.

Jane left her mark on this world. She left a legacy. She showed us how to fight. She showed us how to smile in the face of adversity.

Martin, please know that you and the children are in our prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that Jane will never be forgotten. The kidney cancer community will see to it that her memory lives on in our hearts and that those in the future understand what she had done for the cause.

What can I add? Shocked yes, but desperately sorry for you Martin and the family. Doesn't make it any easier, even knowing it was coming does it? If there is any silver lining in this darkest of clouds it is the fact that Jane is out of pain and suffering. Martin be rest assured everyone is thinking of you in support.
I knew Jane via a chat room long before her fight against cancer began. She never changed from 6 years ago up until this weekend. She shared her concerns long before this Blog began and I remember her saying she was going to create one. What a legacy she has left. And for this, all who knew her, even from afar must be thankful.
Rest now Jane, you have earnt it and if you can, look after your family.
This indeed has been a journey of another kind about a courageous lady and I will never forget her.
