...recovery update

The operation went well and Jane is now off the heavy duty pain killers. The physios went in this morning and got her out of bed on a frame. The first time she has stood up for a month !!

The consultant is is so happy he wants to do the other leg !! Jane had a choice, to wait two or three weeks and then go back in OR have in done this Monday. A smaller operation than the other one involving drilling out the affected bone and replacing it with special cement. He is concerned that if it did brake we would have the same scenario. Poor Jane, she thought she was coming home soon.

Well after much heart wrenching and a few tears, she is going to have it done on Monday. I think the thought of the other leg breaking was too much for her. It means she will be in hospital all next week. I will keep you posted.

Well, better get it all over in the one go, Martin. I'm pleased the second bone can be done so soon. Hope it all continues to go well.

It is probably best to get it over and done wit rather than to come home and have it hanging over you.
Thinking of you both

oh poor Jane but to get it done and over with must be the best thing to do. Can't believe she is actually upright so soon, weight bearing is now the major hurdle to overcome. At this rate though she'll be running by christmas! You'll all have such a job keeping up with her. WELL DONE JANE I know it has been a really hard journey to get this far but you've nearly reached the finish line and we're all close behind you urging you on. xxx

What great news. Sorry about the delay in getting home but it will be much better I am sure to stay and have the other leg done, if the consultant advises, they usually know best. Just hope that the nursing care is better than her last experience being there. Bet she felt good standing even if it were only for a few moments.
Give her our love,
Thank you so much for keeping us up to date Martin.
Love Sybil x

Best to stay and get it over with Jane, even though I know you would most definitely be at home next Monday. You'll do great and just think about it, once the other one is done and over with, you'll have all of that behind you.
Sending my wishes across the Atlantic....hang in, hang on and grab my lifeline whenever you need support...I'm always here!!!

Hi Jane, Martin and all, I want to throw some good news in here, hope you don't mind? I had my 2nd ct scan on sutent today, following
6th cycle it's working so well lung is clear ( 2 tumours gone) and all others have shrunk some by 2cm! There is hope with all this wonderful technology and hope for all of us. Here's hoping you're doing well Jane and giving those nurses the runaround! Thinking of you all the time.
